Kristin Johnson

Kristin Johnson has served as the Director of Human Resources for the Ames Community School District since September 2019. Johnson came to the District with many years of labor and employment law and human resources management experience. Most recently, Johnson served as the Executive Director of the Iowa Civil Rights Commission. Her career includes positions as a labor relations team member for the State of Iowa, a civil rights investigator, a labor arbitrator and mediator, an associate for a law firm specializing in labor and employment law, and 15 years as part-time online faculty in an accredited paralegal associate degree program.

She earned her BA in music and French and her Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa. She has also earned her SHRM-CP. Johnson is an avid supporter of public education.
