New AMS Principal
It is with great pleasure and excitement that we announce the appointment of Erin Miller as the new Principal of Ames Middle School. In seeking the desired characteristics of a leader who has a strong commitment to our community, believes in our mission, and shares our values, Miller embodies all of these qualities and more. Her hire as Principal ensures the long-term success of AMS.
Miller previously served as the Associate Principal at AMS. During her time in this role, she demonstrated exceptional leadership skills by spearheading professional development initiatives for staff on topics such as professional learning communities, assessments, overseeing special education services, and technology integration. Her unwavering support for teachers, support staff, and educational associates has greatly contributed to advancing student learning outcomes.
Prior to her tenure at AMS, Miller served the Ames Community School District for many years in various capacities, including as a teacher at Ames High School and a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA). Her roles involved leading curriculum reviews and managing curriculum cycles, among other responsibilities. In her more recent role as the Director of Teaching and Learning, she helped vision, plan, and implement instructional practices and curriculum across the District. In addition to Miller’s extensive duties, she played a key role in strategic planning during the 2022-2023 school year.
Miller obtained her undergraduate degree from Iowa State University and holds a master’s degree in Educational Administration, along with an additional master’s degree in English from the University of Northern Iowa. With her exceptional background in education and her deep connection to the Ames CSD, we are confident that Miller will continue to lead our school with excellence and dedication.
