Ames High #5 Ribbon Cutting
A few days after the doors opened for students to start the 2022-2023 school year, the public was able to walk through the new Ames High School for the first time during a ribbon-cutting and open house event on August 27, 2022.
Former Superintendent, Dr. Tim Taylor, offered remarks about what led to the school district pursuing the construction of a new high school. He led Ames Schools long-range planning in 2012, helped the board determine whether the school district should remodel or build new, and was superintendent when the bond campaign passed in 2018.
Director of Facilities and Maintenance, Gerry Peters, oversaw the construction of the building for the school district. In his remarks, he provided key features and statistics of the new high school and talked about the number of challenges that were overcome throughout the process. He reminded everyone that he was one of many who made this building a reality.
Finally, current superintendent, Dr. Julious Lawson, welcomed everyone to the building and encouraged all to enjoy the tour. The event was highly attended and serves as a wonderful unveiling for an amazing building.
