Kristin Johnson Announced as New Director of Human Resources
The Ames Community School District is excited to announce Kristin Johnson as the new Director of Human Resources. Ms. Johnson previously served as the Iowa Civil Rights Commission Executive Director, a position that is appointed by the Governor of the State of Iowa. In that position, she set policy and was responsible for hiring, staffing, employment benefits, and performance evaluations for the state agency.
Johnson is licensed to practice law in Iowa and has worked in the employment and labor law field since graduating from law school cum laude from the University of Iowa. She has worked in private practice and for the State of Iowa, representing the state in collective bargaining negotiations and providing legal advice and guidance to clients and state agencies in employment and labor-related matters. Prior to becoming Executive Director, Johnson served as an investigator for the Iowa Civil Rights Commission and has experience conducting internal investigations. She has been listed with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service and the Public Employment Relations Board as a mediator and arbitrator.
In her spare time, Johnson enjoys accompanying student musicians and interprets for French chef instructors who teach at the Iowa Culinary Institute at DMACC. As a District, we are excited to begin working with Ms. Johnson and look forward to the leadership that she will bring to the Ames Community School District.
