New Director of Equity and Director of Technology

The Ames Community School District is excited to announce Dr. Anthony Jones as the new Director of Equity, a position new to the District, and Patrick Donovan as Director of Technology. Both are new to their respected positions but have had successful careers within the Ames District.

Dr. Jones is a strong advocate for all students, especially those who are considered “at-risk” and works to provide support for students to feel a sense of belonging in our schools. His new role as Director of Equity will allow him to work beside administrators, teacher leaders, classroom educators, and community partners to bring action to the District’s commitment to equity and access. Dr. Jones has previously served the Ames District in a variety of positions that include Director of Student Services, Interim Elementary Principal, Associate Principal, and as a teacher. He received his Doctorate in Educational Administration from Iowa State University in 2010. 

Mr. Donovan previously served as the Technology Coach at Ames High School for six years and has a Masters in Curriculum and Instructional Technology from Iowa State University. He is a certified Google for Education Trainer and Innovator who has presented on the use of educational technology at various state and national conferences. Patrick has a passion for focusing on accessibility and making learning accessible for all students and believes that technology should not be the focus on our learning but is a tool that we can use to get to the levels of teaching and learning that we desire.
